HARRY THAW.

United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received August 28, 2 p.m. Montreal, August 27. Judge Globensky ruled out the New York Attorney’s representations when Thaw’s motion to drop babaea corpus proceedings was mentioned. Hundreds of spectators filled the court, chiefly American, and cheered British Justice and the British flag. Thaw bowed theatrically three times. The United States Attorney repised to make a statement but declared that such an outburst might have been suppressed in any conrt. The haebas corpus motion was adjourned. Ottawa August 27. At Montreal Court of Justice Judge Globensky granted a discontinuance of the hahaes corpus action, and remanded Thaw to gaol. The New York lawyers regard this as a complete victory. Montreal, August 28. Judge Globensky referred to the disgraceful scene in court, when he announced that New York lawyers would be refused a hearing. Never in his experience had he seen such disgraceful conduct by women and men. If repeated he would order the arrest of all concerned. Afterwards, as Thaw was removed to gaol, hysterical women cheered and shouted “Hurrah for British justice,” Newspapers compare the demonstration with that accorded Koyaty. Thaw has issued,a statement! to the Press thanking Canadians for their fair play and sympathy. “Times—Sydney Snn Special Cables, ’ ’ London, Angnst 27. Some caustic editorial comments on the Thaw case are being published by the London papers. The Daily Express says; American justice does not succeed in the capture of Thaw the severest blow yet delivered will have been struck at its insecure foundations and the judicial system undermined. The corruption and sentimentality in the common course of American justice amaze the people of this country, and the ease with which the rich escape its meshes strikes an Englishman as humiliating to the public conscience of a great country. Where there is one law for the rich and another for the poor a millionaire with his weight of money mocks the law. Here we would have hanged Thaw or sent him irrevocably to Broadmoor. We make bold to say that there is no European State west of Russia in which a scandal like this could have been perpetrated without arousing such a storm as would destroy the hierarchy of officials responsible. Had Thaw been poor he would have gone.to the electric chair. ”
