IMPERIAL NAVAL DEFENCE.
, » —- “Times—Sydney Son Special S Cables. ” United Press' Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright, London, Angnst 28. The Times’ Toronto correspondent says that although Australia and the Imperial anthorities favour the proposed Pacific Naval Conference at Vancouver, it is doubtful whether Canada is ready for such a confer- / enoe. The disposition of the Government is to adopt the policy of New Zealand in preference to the policy of Australia. The Montreal Herald urges an Imperial Conference with wider scope than any previously held. The naval question involves issues so vast that almost any sacrifice is justified in order to reach the right solution. Unless a plan is applied to all the oversea Dominions the era of chaos is likely to continue. The journal adds that it is inevitable that the naval policy for some time to come will continue to be a party question In Canada.
