At the Supreme Court criminal sittings Frank Duffy and Mary Little were each sentenced, to two years for stealing £ll 10s from Thomas White. Ellen Annie Cornwall, on a charge of bigamy, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called on. Palmerston North, August 19,

There is a small criminal list at the Supreme Court sessions which opened to-day, hut it includes a charge of murder against a Maori -woman in connection with Te Ore Ore tragedy at the end of June, and also a charge of attempted murder against William Clemens and Eliza beth Ireland as an outcome of the Pnkehinau sensation. At the Supreme Court this morning, Robert Bean Stewart for breaking entering and theft, was sentenced to two years. John Hitchcock charged with attempted murder of his sister at Akaroa, on April 20tb, was found not guilty on the ground of insanity. He was ordered to be detained during the pleasure of the Justice.
