MARTON A. & P. ASSOCIATION.

Slß,— Your report of the meeting ... of the committee of the Marton A. & P. Show contained a rather serious error. You state that a discussion took place as to whether it was desirable to include fat stock classes in the schedule for the coming Show. Of course fat stock classes will be included, and we expect to have very large entries tins year probably- almost up to the 'Feildiug standard. The discussion that took place was about the'export classes, some of the committee thinking that rot much was to be gained in sending the fat lambs home to be indeed in .London. It was not even suggested that fat stock classes should • not be included in the schedule; in fact, we intend by offering liberal prize iuoney to make the fat lamb and sheep classes one or the features of the Show. Last year the date of the Show had not been settled when the first drafts of fat lambs were taken by the export buyers, and so most farmers had not the opportunity o£ saving their best lambs, notwithstanding which the pens contained come excellent ouality lambs. This year it will be Altogether different, as farmers have plenty of time to prepare and keep their best- for the fat pens, and we hope that all farmers who fatten iambs will keep back a few of their best, and so help the Marton Show to take the position vdiich it certainly will take in a few years—the most important fat stock show on the coast With so much land devoted to growing rape and forage crops all round the district, and with such a central position for landing the stock at tire show ground, it stands to reason that the Show will take the position that it naturally commands.—l am, etc., G. L. MARSHALL. President Marton A. & P. Association.
