AN EXCITING ARREST.

I United Press Association.—By Elecv trie Telegraph. —Copyright. Received May 27, 10 a.m. Brisbane, May 27. The proprietor of an hotel reported that his safe had been burgled and £6O stolen. Detective Head and Constable Scanlon met the Brisbane train at Toowoomba and tackled a suspect, who fled from the platform keeping the officers covered with a revolver Scanlon dashed in and was struck with an umbrella and he then fell. Head continued the pursuit and after a desperate stmggle secured the man who had a fully loaded revolver. Lieut-Governor Morgan and hundreds of passengers watched the chase and cheered the officers, Morgan lifting his hat, adding "Good Men!" The arrestee also congratulated them on their bravery, saying they faced what he would not. The missing money was found in his possession.
