Drastic censorship of female attire is proposed in i Bill introduced into the Ohio Legislature, the objeot ot whioh Ib "to preper-lbe the f »f hion ? to btf worn by women in this fatate. These lartorial censor* will be empowered to "prohibit ouch styles and pattern* of garment* as they shall deem after a bearing to be detrimental to virtu* or chastity. The disoretionary pawera of the censors, however, will be strictly limited, as, according to the condition of the Bill, "pneumonia" or open-worlt blouses will in future be considered illegal. The Bill fixes an exact limit for deaollete gowns, prescribing that "not ore than two inches of the neok below the oh in shall be nnoovered " The Bill makes it unlawful for women to wear any onter garment trimmed or combined with a lace insertion or net through whioh the colour and texture of the akin may be distinguished. It further prohibits the display of "transparent stockings in ■Dublin places," and makes it a punishable offence for shopkeepers to exhibit in shop windows undraped artificial figures. In the Bill Mr Louis Oapelle, a representative n f or St. Louis, declared: "TMe immodesty in the attire worn by women in the streets is the cause of the groat wave of immorality now sweeping the coantry." The three members of the censorship commission munt be selected from men and women botwean the ages of 50 and 50. Each member will receive a salary of £SOO a year.
