COMPULSORY TEMPERANCE LESSONS.

A deputation of Temperance Societies waited on Mr Pease, M.P., and asked for compulsory lessons in temperance and hygiene at board schools. Mr Pease sympathised with the deputation, but said the selection of subjects rested with the local authorities so he urged the Societies to endeavour to influence them.
