MANGAWEKA NOTES.

At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce last evening, a budget or correspondence was read in connection with the express trams stoppage, and Mr Berries, Minister of Railways, signified his intention of visiting Mangaweka at an early date. The Minister will be entertained here during his visit, and will be shown through the Kawatau Valley, Ruahine and Rangiwahia. The Athletic Club Committee are to: be congratulated on their long and varied programme, which ■ was submitted to a well-attended meeting on Thursday evening. Quite a new departure this year is the militaiy events and Highland dancing. The committee have had such strong recommendations, together with valuable 'trophies given, that it kwas unanimously decided to put on .t! e extra ■ events, and, no doubt, U o annual fixture on dauuar> .-nd will ho a huge success. Athletes and horse owners are well catered ±jr, and tho prize money is meted out on an elaborate scale.
