HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Per Press Association. Wellington, October 14. The following is the High Commissioner’s market report, dated 12th October. Note; Quotations unless otherwise specified are average market prices on spot:— Mutton.—The market is quiet. Canterbury 4>£d, North Island 4%d, River Plate 4%d. Lamb. —No alteration in the market since last week. Canterbury other than Canterbury ,, Beef. —The market is dull. Supplies are increasing. New Zealand 3%d, fores 2%d. Butter. —The market is very firm for best quality. There are large stocks of second-class quality in cold store. Danish'l3ls, Siberian 112 s, Australian 115 s, New Zealand nominal 1245. Cheese. —The market is quiet with small business doing. Canadian white 64s 6d, coloared 65s 6d. Hemp. —The market is firm at an advance and is excited. There is good demand for all descriptions. New Zealand good fair grade on spot £3l per ton, fair grade £3O, fair current Manila £2!) 10s. JauuaryMarch shipments of New Zealand good fair £3l 10s, fair grade £3O 10s, fair current Manila £3O 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 26,000 bales. The stock of New Zealand is 610 tons. Wheat —The market is quiet. New Zealand long berried ex granary per quarter of 4961b5, 39s 6d; short berried 395. Oats. —The market is dull with very little business doing. New Zealand short sparrowbills ex granary per quarter of 3841b5, 26s 6d. Beans. —The demand is improving, but prices are unchanged. New Zealand f.a.q., new crop., per 5041b5, 38s 6d. Peas. —The market is firm, but the demand is only moderate. New Zealand Partridge per 5041b5, 40s 6d. Linseed. —The market is dull and unsettled. Bombay 60s 9d, Calcutta 60s, River Plate 565. Cocksfoot seed. —The market is very dull.

NORTH OTAGO ‘MARKETS. Oamaru, October 13. Wheat still remains inactive, but the sales have been slightly larger than in the previous week. Velvet realised 3s 8d net, and 3s 8d less commission at country stations, the latter price being for a line of 1500 sacks. Red wheats area penny below the velvet quotations. Sales of Tuscan and red chaff have been made both separately and in combination at 3s and 3s 7d net at country stations, and for velvet and red chaff (mixed line). 3s net was given at a country station. Oats are offering very irregularly, and the sales have been on a small scale. The prices paid have been 2s lid for B grade. The potato market revived a little during the middle of the week., when a buyer appeared to fill an order for Sydney. The order, however, was a small one, and the shipment was secured from store to go via Port Chalmers. The prices in the country are £6 15s net and £7 less commission
