Wealthy persons are assuring their lives in order to pay heavy death duties without the necessity of realising part of tlieir estates. One policy is reported to have been taken out for £300,000, others lor £200,000 and £250,000, and many for sums between £IOO,OOO and £*oo,ooo. FAMILY DROWNED. An extraordinary fishing fatality is reported from Ottawa. Although, a lover, of peace, he could see that the only way to preserve it was to he strong enough to whip anyone who would try to break it. , Sir George Reid added that there was no sense in all the talk about war between Britain and Germany. CANADA’S NAVAL POLICY. Ottawa, October 4. Parliament will meet in the middle of next month, when whatever action is taken with regard to Canada’s navy will be confined to the voting of an emergency contribution. The Government’s permanent naval policy is not likely to become known before next year’s session.
