MARTON FIRE BRIGADE.

A SUCCESSFUL DANCE. With characteristic public spirit residents of Marton turned out undeterred by the -wet weather, to support the Marlon Fire Brigade’s annual social fixture which was held at Opera House last evening. The publicities given every encouragement in a practical way by essistin? a volunteer brigade, and considering the wretched weather the attendance was very creditable, All were greatly impressed with the completeness of the arrangements. The committee, with Secretary £. ,B. Signal! at the head’of affairs, deserve the warmest praise for putting forward such well directed energy In carrying out the undertaking, and all who assisted in promoting the success of the. dance are to be complimented on their work. Two firemen from Feilding were present. The floor was In capital order, and Martou Band orchestra, under the ooudnctorsbip of Mr Bert urczier, played.a specially'seleoted programme of dances. Extras were played by Miss Marr and Messrs Q. Gray/ B. B. Signal (accordeon) and Q. Morris (piano). The supper arrangements; in charge of the ladies satisfied all. Superintendent J. H. McDonald and members of the Brigade attended In uniform, and every detail was carefully carried oat by them. The financial result will be satisfactory.
