United Press 'Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Sydney, July 18. Wharf labourers refused to work the North Coast Company’s Burringbar because of the employment of seamen In the steamers’ holds. After a meeting of the Coastal Steamship 1 Association, the North Coast Company conceded the wharf labourers’ demands. It is expected work will be resumed to-morrow. The Association claims that the demand is a breach of the award. WAIHI AND.REBFTON STRIKES. Per Press Association. Gisborne, July IS. The General Labourers’ Union tonight decided to vote £lO to the Waihi and Reefton strike funds. The following resolution was carried with enthusiasm; “That this union is jvith the miners heart and sonl in the struggle against oppression, and expresses the hope that their fight will be be brought to a successful and speedy issue. ’’ Received July 19, 11 a.m. Sydney, July 19. Oorrimal Miners’ Lodge have contributed sixpence fortnightly to Waihi and Reefton. A combined meeting of Oorrimal and Mount Pleasant miners passed a resolution that they are prepared to endorse the best possible means of assisting the New Zealand strikers in their fight for justice.
