{ ; **-' “ Per Press Association. Stratford, Jcly J 7, Tha annual meeting of the Zealand Jersey Breeders’ Association was held here this afternoon. Forty delegates were present. Mr A H. Halcombe (Urenni) was in the chair. The retiring President, in his address, congratulated the association on the state of its affairs. TL’he membership was now 2135, and tile credit balance £298 The following officers were elected r —President, W, M, Tapp. Auckland jv vice-presidents, H. K B. Watson, Palmerston North, and A. H. Halcombe, retiring president. Messrs J. Macßea and Tapp were elected.to the vacancies oir the OonnciL A motion to reduce the fee for the Herd Book was defeated. It was decided that members of the Council be reimbursed expenses when travelling on the Ahsociaticn’s business. The Council wsu in struoted to prepare a scheme to have the country divided into seven divisions, which should be represented By members of the Council. ,M was decided to revise the rules and send a copy to each member before next meeting, at which they shall be considered; and a remit from Wanganui that only the offspring of cows with a certain butter-fat record be admitted was discussed,and withdrawn. The matter of legislation on the question of impure progeny was reshe next meeting. ' The Council was recommended to nrga auctioneers not to advertise as purebred cattle any other than those eligible for the Herd Book. The Connell was instructed to formulate a scheme for giving a prize to encourage young jtulges. . The next meeting was fixed for Palmerston North. The visitors were entertained in the evening by the Stratford fcraneh.
