FROZEN MEAT. Press Association. Napier, Mrob 3. The Op. & D. Company to-day cabled tbe following report on the frozen meat market: — There is slightly better demand end the market Is firmer. To-day’s quotationns are ;—Mutton : Napier, Wellington and North Island 3%d. Lamb, first quality s>^d t second 6d. Beef, hinds 4%d, fores 3>^d. * ADDINGTON STOOK SALE. Christchurch, March 2. There was a very large yarding of all classes and sheep entries must have constituted a record. There was no change in lat cattle or store sheep except that forward wethers and lambs, and young ewes were easier and fat lambs also showed a decline of about fid per head. There was a good demand for stores. Fat sheep maintained values and there was a good sale for dairy cows, hot not much enquiry for sfeoro cattle. The entry of store sheep was very heavy and all available space was fully occupied. The entry was a mixed one and a considerable proportion was rough and low conditioned. For forward dry shsep both wethers and lambs that oonld be finished off this season, there was a good demand, and all classes of young and fresh mouthed ewes were also readily saleable. All other descriptions of sheep were on the whole easier. Forward wethers 12s fid to 13s fid, 2, 4 and 6 tooth ewes 15a lOd to 16s, 4, 6 and 8 tooth ewes 12s to 13s 7d, sound mouth 10s to 12s fid, aged 5s fid to 8s lOd, forward lambs 10s to 12a IGd, medium 8a to 9s fid, and small 7b to 7b lOd. Fat lambs.—Tegs 16s Id to 17s lOd, average weights 11s to 15s. Fat sheep.—Prime wethers made 15s to 17s 3d, lighter 13s fid to 14S Bd, prime ewes 12s to 14s fid, extra to 16s, and others 9s to 11s fid. Fat cattle.—Steers made £6 to £lO 2s fid, heifeta”£s 17s fid to £7 ss, and cows £4 17s to £8 2s fid, equal to 20s to 23s for prime, 19a to 20s for medium, and 16s to 18a for oow and inferior per 1001 b. Yeal calves made 4s fid to 50s according to size and quality. Store cattle.—Yearlings making 26a to 32s fid, 15 to 18 months 31s tfo 40s, 3 year steers £4 4s, 2 year heifers £3 7s to £5, 2 % year steers £4 15s, 8 year steers £6 7s, and dry cows 23s fid to £4 ss. Dairy .cows made £3 6s to £9 15s. Pigs.— Choppers made 40s to 60s, large baoooers 40s to 465, light 35s to 38s, equal to S%d to 3%d per lb; large porkers 32s to 345, smaller 28s to 30s, equal to 4d per lb for very prime; and an even line of 52 halfbred Tamworth baooners on behalf of Mr W. MoGnire, Sonthbridge, made 44e. Large stores 27s to 31s fid, medium 18a to 25a, small 10s to 13s, and weaners 4s to 8s Pd.
