THE DALAI LAMA.

Calcutta, March 3, Bnddhista at Darjeeling have petitioned China to recall the Chinese resident at Lhassa, withdraw the troops, restore the mined monasteries and reinstate the Dalai Lama. China in reply to Russia intimated that the deposition of the Dalai Lama would not affect the Brahmin religion or internal administration of Tibet. Received March 4, 10 a.m. London,M a*oh 3. Lord Minto in a telegram states that the D-slai' Lama fled against the advice of the Council and the National Assembly.
