AN ISLAND MASSACHE.

Mr "Woodford, Commissioner cf the Solomon Mantle, recently proceeded to Baggo to inquire into the massacre of the Bintsin’e family by the Sios gang on October 29th. A force of hOO native police under white officers landed and secured the Island without fineness. Difficulty was esprelsnced its securing tho co-operation of local coastal natives. The Commissioner announced bis intention to remove all neutral natives to another Island unless they co-operated. Several natives believed to be in communication with Sito were detained. Finally the others decided to help the Government, and the Island was thoroughly searched for throe weeks, uhs search resulting in the capture of Tongava, the actual murderer of Mrs Binskin and the younger child, and the death of three others of Tongava’s family. la addition to Id prisoners taken several of Site’s party were killed while resisting capture. Sito Is reported to have been captured in a neighbouring island.
