RONGOTEA.

From Our Own Correspondent. A large gathering of friends and relatives assembled at the residence of Mr and Mrs S. Locke, of Taikorea, on the occasion of the marriage of their eldest son to Miss Florence Louisa Hopping, only 'daughter of Mr and Mrs Edwin Hopping, both of Taiborea. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. F. Wilson, of Rongotea. The bride, who was given' away by her father, wore a very pretty dress of cream embroidered voile with Paris insertion’ and the usual veil and orange blossoms, and carried a handsome shower bouquet. She was attended by three bridesmaids, sisters of the bridegroom, Misses Lacy and Francis Locke, who were simply attired in dresses of white spotted mnslin, white silk'-hats and sashes and carried pretty bouquets of white flowers. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Richard / Locke, as groomsman. After the ceremony the guests were ail photographed by Mr O. P. Wood, of Rongotea. About 70 goesjts assembled to partake of the wedding breakfast, when the usual toasts ’ were honoured. Mr Harry Holtham had a bad accident at Rongotea on Friday, April »th, while chopping wood. He oat his foot seriously, ana will have to rest for a while. A most beautiful service was held in the Anglican Church of S.S. Simon and Jude, at Rhngotea. on Good Friday night, called a "Lantern Passion Service.” There was a goodlygassemblage of people who showed every attention as the service was proceeded with. The lectures were given by the Rev. H. F. Wilson, while the lantern was manipulated by Mr Campbell Penney, and was a complete success. Seme beautiful pictures were exhibited showing the steps in ocr Saviours life during cha Holy week till after His crucifixion, each picture being painted by tlie greatest artists of their respective times. Beautiful and fitting hymns were thrown on to the screen at intervals and were well rendered by a strong choir, placed in the back of the.church in which tlie congregation heartily joined.
