Sir Wm. MacGregor, Governor of Newfoundland and formerly Administrator of New Guinea, has been appointed Governor of Queensland.

Renter’s St. John’s correspondent says that Sir, Wm. MacGregor’s promotion to Governorship of Queensland Is universally admitted to be well deserved. He is regarded as by far the most successful Governor of Newfoundland in modern times, having handled a succession of difficult questions with rare judgment. Hobart, March 37.

Sir Gerard Strickland, Governor of Tasmania, has been appointed Governor of Westralia.
