In a defended case Williams, Ingle & 00. (Mr Ladley) v. Wong Gun, judgment was entered fcr plaintiffs for amount claimed, £4 2a 6d. One item in the claim was,admitted but defendant disputed the price of a bag of chaff and stated that a set of harness was included in the price paid for a spring cart. It was shown by plaintiffs that the harness was bought at a later date. Two prohibited persons were fined 10a and £3 and costs for a breach of the Licensing Act. His Worship announced he would make substantial fines in such cases in future. A Marten fcesidenfe was fined £1 and costs for using profane language to the police. Constable Fitzpatrick brought an information against John Nesbit for boarding a train at Marton Junction while in motion. He said the_ cats was brought forward as a warning to the public. It was not only a danger to their own lives but to those who came to their assistance. A fine of 10s with costs was inflicted.
