RAETIHI NOTES.

From Oar Own Correspondent. The Raetihi Football Club held itJ annual meeting op Saturday, With a fair muster of members, Mr Williamsou in the'ohair. The report on preceding year’s work was adopted. The treasurer laid the annual bal-ance-sheet before the meeting. Mr W. Pike, injured five years ago while playing in a match, was elected a life member of the Club. The resignation of Mr L. Fryer, secretary, was accepted with, regret, a motion of thanks for past services being recorded. A vote of .thanks was also accorded, to Mr Winks, who has promised to present a cap to the senior player v sooring most points in the cup matches. It was decided that the opening season be commenced with two teams, senior and junior, as last year. It was resolved to wait upon the Domain Board, and see if steps cannot bo taken to have a dressing room erected on the. Domain. A sports meeting on May ' is to be held in aid of Olnb funds. Opening matches ate to be played with the surveyors and Manganu-a-o-te-ao teams. Dates for these to be arranged. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as under: —Patron, W. T. Jennings, Esq., M.P. ; President, P. G. Smith, Esq; Vice-Presidents, Messrs Jas. Punch, Butts, Kitchen, A. McGarry,' Fletcher, and Campbell; Management Committee, Messrs H. E. Girdlestone, Rush, Fry, Richter, Volkerling and W. Fraser, also the captain, vice-captain and secretary, ex-oflscio. Mr G. Richter was appointed secretary and treasn-, rer. Ground Committee, Messrs Richter, B. Campbell, W. Hoddle, W. Davidson and Fry, also the captain? Delegates to Ruapehu subUnion, Messrs Rush and Williamson. Selection Committee, Messrs Williamson, Kitchen and Rush. A fire ooonrred in the township last evening (Sunday) when the four-roomed dwelling occupied by Mr James Risk was destroyed. Both -Mr and' Mrs Risk were absent, and the cause of the fire is unknown. Neighbours arrived on the scene but were unable to do anything, the house and contents being cotally.de'atroyed. The house was owned by Mr Hoddle, and was insured in the Royal for £IOO, and furniture in the New Zealand. A dismounted parade of Waimarino Mounted Rifles will take ? place on Saturday evening, April Bth, in the Town Half.
