The monthly meeting was held yesterday. Present: Crs TV. G. Pearco (in tho chair), Win. Itoid, J. 11. Vincent, and TIIO3. Howling. COKEESPON DENCE. From W. Brookov, Taionui, offering £1 a year for lease of piece of disused road.— Accepted" From J. Jepson, Ilunnythorpo, reporting on road work done, and stating that the recent flood had improved the course, of the Manguono, near tho bridge. From C. J. D. Skinner, Feilding ranger, asking for authority to impound stray cattle in the county.—Chairman to confer with the county ranger on the applied, tion.

From J. Nathan and Co, asking in connection with creamery at Aorangi to bo allowed to lay water pipes along tho roadside and to leave shuto projecting from cheoso factory.—Left to Or Pearco to deal with. From Mr Wood, MILE., with copy of a letter ho had received from Sir Joseph Ward, who declined to authorise tho erection of an overhead bridgo at the Ashhurst railway station, as it would cost about .£OOO, "but tho road would be widened and metalled tho full width.— Messrs Wood and Lcthbridgc, M.H.K.'s, to bo thanked for th»ir efforts in tho matter.!

From C. Wrighfcon, resigning his position as councillor, owing to ill health. — Accepted with regret, steps to bo taken to fill the vacancy. From Chief Surveyor, stating that ho had received a protest from tho natives against the location of roads in tho Ecu Ecu block.—Held over. From Kaimnga County Council declining to contribute to tho cost of Grovo road. Cr Fowling said tho Kaivauga, j Council was legally liable to contribute. —Cr Howling and'Pearco to wait on tho lvoiranga Council on tho matter. From E. Stevenson, complaining of tho

diflieulty of driving cattle on Kimbolton road because of stray cattle.—Kcferrcd to the ranger.

H. I. Ilaynes, Engineer of Lower Gorgo bridge, reported that the contractor had erected eleven spans cf staging. All arrangements had been mado for receiving air lock from tho Public Works Department. REPORTS. The Engineer roported that the washout at tho Kapariki bridgo had been repaired and gully on tho Haleoinbe-Kaka-riki road fenced. Ho advised tho widening of the Halconibe-Feilding road 011 tho Haleotnbo side of tho Mangaone bridge for a distance of throo chains at a cost of JUG. Ho estimated the cost of a bridgo over tho Makino on tho junction road at .£215.

Tender,-, would be invited next week for the formation of part of the Penelope road. 11-j proposed calling tenders next week for rcgrading two hills near tho Hui'i'.ma fchool. An old wooden culvert on tho liimiij thovpe-Ashhurst road had fallen in and it would be necessary to replace it with 18 pipes at a cost of £25. Tha report ami recommendations included were adopted. Tho application of J. A. Taylor for a slaughtering license was approved. It was resolved that two farinnr.n ho notified that if they allow- their pigj to stray on the ro'acls they will be prosqeuted. Tho tender of AY. Irvine for erection oiJ offlco in wood at £395. Tho Engineer was instructed to invite tenders for formation of the Kelvin Grovo road. That 10 per cent, bo charged on all rates unpaid on November 23rd. Tho Council declined to allow Peikling Borough Conned to extend abattoir .iron,
