In connection with the minors’ demands, the colliery proprietors have prepared a statement of the wages earned at the principal collieries in' the Newcastle and Maitland districts during the past six mouths. At 21 pits Die daily wages ranged from 10s to 16s, averaging about 13s. One colliery ranged Kis to 33s lOd. An increase of fourpence in the bowing rate will mean an additional 14d per day. By closing the Burwood and Lambtou pits, over 500 men are rendered idle.
