The ground was in fast hard condition but a strong breeze blew right down the ground, though neither side derived much practical benefit when playing with it. 1 Manawatu kicked oil against the wind and their first force down came quickly, Skelloy sending her out to Hewitt who kicked hard over the line. After Ilorowhenua had slung the ball about for some time rather aimlessly Potts marked cleverly close to the goal posts, but the same player missed goaling from an easy r position. Shortly' after resuming Codes dashed away' with the hall, then Thompson carried it on a bit further and finally Eawhiri chipped in and ne managed in a bumping melco to scramble over close to the corner flag. T. Parana made an excellent but unsuccessful attempt at goal and play was continued with evgp pegging.
