The following aro reduced from 25 to 30 per cent: —Lace, ribbons, silks, British-grown tea (must be in packages of over Glfis to be free). Chemicals, drugs, patent medicines, sarsaparilla, are raised.s per cent. Surgical and dentists’ instruments, formerly free, will now pay 20 per cent. Hoisery is raised from 20 to 35 per cent. Mouldings of all kinds are raised from 15 to 20 per cent. Billiard furniture is reduced from 25 po 3,0 per cent. Handbills, programmes, and printed advertising matter are raised from 20 per cent and valorem to 3d per lb; half tone and line blocks, formerly free, now pay 25 per cent. Siiot cartridges are raised from Is 6d to 3s Od per 100: 'Cash registers from 1.0 to 30 per cent. Hydraulic cranes, formerly free, pay 20 per cent, Electric machinery and appliances, gas meters and gas-making apparatus are raised from 10 to 20 per cent. Iron pipes over sin, in diameter from 5 to 20 per cent. Motor cars, formerly paying 20 per cent, now come in free. Potatoes pay £1 per ton instead of SO per cent. Blue is reduced from 2d to Id per lb, candles are raised to IjJd per lb instead of Id. Cork (cut) 'is reduced from 30 per cent to free. Paraffin was is raised from %d to Id. - Pood preservatives, maltine, chlprodyne, and water hardening chemicals aro taken from the free list and included as-drugs. , Magic lanterns,: cinematographs and like instruments are raised from fre ) to 20 per cent. Crude, gas oils, formerly free, pay b<d per gallon. Artificers’ brushes go from free to So per cent. The preferential schedules are largely extended, most of the items now subject to duty or on the free list (except raw mateials which cannot be produced in British possessions) being included in them. The amounts remain as before, 10 to 20 per cent.
