The Stock MarketMessrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their usual weekly stock sale at Palmerston North on 4th inst. as follows :—We had a fair yardir g of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. The following is a list of prices realised : Fat and forward wethers 17s 9d, 3, 4 and 5-tooth wethers 17s 3d, 4-year ewes in lamb 18s, lambs mixed sexes 12s 3d, backward springing heifers £3 7s 6d.

Messrs Abraham & Williams, Ltd., report—At Palmerston on Thursday the entry of sheep was below the average. The cattle yards were well filled. Competition was good and a good clearance was made, only three small pens of heifers being turned out unsold. Forward wethers 19s, f.f.m. Romney ewes in lamb 19s, store wethers 16s Bd, good lambs 11s lOd to 13s 4d, medium lambs 10s Id, cull lambs 3s 9d to 5s Id, f.m. owes in lamb 12s 3d, forward ewes 11s 7d, to 13s, 3d and 4 year store bullocks £5 2s Cd to £5 ss, forward bullocks £6 Gs, 3 year steers £4 13s, fat cows £3 15s to £5, forward cows £3 10s to £3, store cows 27s Gd to 80s, springing heifers £3 5s to £4 10s, good weauors 21s Gd. At the various dairy sales held d’jfing the week there has boon a good demand for 1 young early calving ° cows, and prices ranging from £6 “to £8 have been readily obtained for good average cows, and anything above the average has been keenly competed for at prices between £8 and £l3 10s, the latter price being paid for one of Mr Alf. Richard’s cows. At Mr Small’s sale on Monday the highest price was £7 17s 6d, the average for the herd being £5 17s 6d. At Mr Jamieson’s sale on Tuesday, although several cows were on the aged side, good prices were obtained, 39 of the best cows selling at prices varying from £0 ISs 6d to £lO 15s, averaging £7 Bs. At Mr Richard’s sale on Wednesday competition was very keen, prices ranging from £0 to £l3 10s for the best cows, 37 of them averaging £7 12s. The whole herd made an average of £6 9s 6d. Berkshire sows £2 17s Gd to £5 ss, Yorkshire sows £3 17s 6d to £6 10s, aged ewes in lamb 11s 9d to 13s Sd. fgood ewes in lamb 20s, purebred Shropshire owes in lamb 37s Cd, purebred Shropshire ewe lambs 15s, purebred Shropshire ram lambs T3s 6d, Store lambs 10s to 12s.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd, report as follows—At Himatangi on Monday we had a fair entry of both sheep and cattle. There was a fair demand all round and most lines were quitted at satisfactory prices Breeding ewes 16s, cattle 80s, store cows 80s to 88s, heifers in calf £2 to £2 19s, springing heifers £3 7s Cd to £4, springingUJcows j£4 10a, 2 years steers £3 7s, 3 year steers £4 5s fat cows £5. At Mr Hickford’s dairy sale on Wednesday there was a good attendance and the cows sold well making up to £9 os. At Palmerston North on Thursday an average entry of cattle came forward consisting principally of female sorts. Most pens were cleared at ruling rates. Lambs 14s Cd, store cows 21s to 38s Cd, weaners 12s 6d to 20s, forward cows £8 to £3 4s, fat , cows £4 9s to £G, springing heifers £3 5s to £3 10s, 3 vear bullocks £5 4s Cd. Grain and Seed. Kayo and Carter, Ltd., Christchurch, report as follows: —Wheat; Milling Tuscan 4s 5d to 4s Cd, milling Pearl 4s 7d to 4s Bd, milling Hunters 4s 6d to 4s Cd, fowl wheat 4s 2d to 4s 3d f.o.b. Lyttelton, sacks extra. Milling wheat: The market has made another sudden rise and at present is excited, making it difficult to quote prices at which business could be done. Fowl wheat, very scarce. Oats: A Gar ton 3s 2d to 3s 3d, B Garton 8s Id to 3s 2d, SparrowhiLs 3s Id to 3s 2d, Danish 8s Id to 3s 2d, Duns 3s 2d to 3s 4d, f.o.b. Lyttelton, sacks included, market steady and strong, very few lots being offered. Potatoes: Table sorts £4 6s to £4 15a in good demand, seed lots £5 to £7 f.o.b. sacks included, a good demand for all seed lines.
