SUPREME COURT.
Per Press Association. Kbw Plymouth, July 5. At the Supreme Court yesterday in the case Moynihan v. Hamertou, a verdict was given for plaintiff for £325, with costs on the middle scale. The parties are from Patea. Plaintiff lent £2BO ■on a property through the agency of defendant, who is a lawyer. The jury found that defendant acted for plaintiff, and that ho did not act as an ordinarily prudent man. They found that the property was worth only £55, and accordingly awarded plaintiff the balance. The defence was that Hamertou did not act for plaintiff.
Auckland, July 5. Frederick William Lucas, convicted of perjury at Puekohe, was sentenced to nine months. Henry John Atkins, sent up as a habitual criminal, with a long list of convictions, was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, as a reformatory prisoner. Decrees nisi were granted in Janet Pye v. George Pye, desertion; Catherine Austin v. William Austin, misconduct.
