Press Association.—Copyright. Pbetoeia, June 22. In the Assembly Mr Smuts speaking to a want-of-confidence motion tabled by Sir George Pariva-; said the Chinese cause was as dead as the dodo. The Chinese must go. Government intended to stand by tho mines and assist them to overcome their difficulties. Sir George JTarrar, replying, said if tho motion was lost then farewell to progress and expansion. It would bury tho country's financial reputation and impair its credit. The motion was defeated by 45 to 21.
