ARBITRATION COURT.

Per Press Association. Napiee, June 18. Tho Arbitration Court commenced a sitting hers to-day. Pines of ,£5 each were imposed in. a number of instances for. breaches of the tailors, carpenters, carters and bakers awards in paying less wages than the amounts fixed by the awards. In a case for employing men on Wellington Anniversary Day at less than tho holiday rate of wages a fine of £2 waa imposed, and, a similar fine was inflicted where a youth employed to do ■light work” as a carter had not been employed solely on such work. For employing two carters in a bakehouse a baker was fined .£3. For failing to pay tho award wages to an employee the proprietor of the Wairoa Guardian was fined j£l and ordered to pay arrears of wages amounting to £34 lls Id.
