DR. FINDLAY INTERVIEWED.

Per Press Association KApitSe, June IS. Tlio Hon. Dr. Findlay, Attorney-: General,-who is at present on a visit to Napier, was interviewed by a reporter to-day with regard to certain legislative . proposals which will come before the next session of Parliament. , In tho course of the interview Dr. Findlay, referring to the formation of fire districts, said that the Act of last session had been found to be defective in several', important respects and immediate legislation was required to remove these in the direction of removing the present anomaly with regard to the representation of insurance companies upon the Board, and also with respect to the vesting of fire brigade buildings and plant in the Fire Boards, and also in financing the brigades until such time as the revenue provided by the Act can be obtained. Amendments 'wore also being prepared in connection with .the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, with a view to rendering more definite the machinery for arriving at awards and making the operations of that machinery more expeditions, A hill penalising the giving or- taking of secret commissions wonld be introduced during the coming session. Dr. Findlay repeated what the Hon. Mr McNab had stated regarding Jthe proposed laud legislation. Speaking in connection with his own Depart-, n»:nt. Dr. ' Findlay said : “I hope to be able to -submit for the approval of my colleagues a /Jill dealing with our judicial system, which may involve the abolition of District Courts and make provision for a more continuous Court of Appeal. This scheme, however, has apt yet had the approval of Ministers, hut will be ready for their consideration in the early part of the session. I believe that a considerable saving in tho expenditure' of the colony and increased efficiency la cur judicial system can bo effected by the- scheme I have in view. ” -
