WRECK OF THE KIA ORA.

Press Association. Auckland, June 17. After careful inquiry the manager of the Northern Steamship Company has coma to the conclusion that only throe persons were drowned in the wreck of the Kia Ora. The following passengers and crew of the Kia Ora were taken to Kawdiia to-day : Mrs Cox, Mr and Mrs Kavanagh,' Mr Partridge, Messrs Baggstrom and Lister (engineers), De Wollf (mate), Robinson (second mate), Miss Keller (stewardess) Peterson (chief steward), De Colla (cook’s boy), Johnston (cabin boy), Andrews (A. 8.) Pratt, Barraclough,' Herdson and Lush walked, to Kawhia. Mr and Mrs Mclntosh and two children w T ent overland. Kino Baku, a Maori passenger, is staying at Shearer’s farm. Auckland, June 18. The survivors of the Kia Ora who arrived at Kawhia yesterday were scantily clad aud mostly badly hurt. Lester, second engineer, has a broken bone in the right foot, Baggstrom, chief engineer, is severely bruised, having been caught in the rigging and dragged under when the steamer weuti down, Mr Partridge, passenger, had one leg broken and his back hurt aud internal and other injuries; Mrs Cox, 67 years of age, is badly cut about the face and suffering severely from hardship and exposure.
