Press Association, Timaeu, May 31. r A four-in-hand, drag, with sixteen people going to a ,country concert, was; smashed up before getting out of town.. : The reins are supposed to have become fouled and the driver lost control of the team whioh turned ronnd and bolted down Beverley Hill and turning a sharp corner to town capsized the vehicle. Miss Foley of Dunedin sustained a fracture of tho skull, the driver (Johnson) was very much bruised, M‘ a3 O’Connor also, and her brother had 8| inches of hat pin extracted. The whole party were much shaken. Chbistchukch, June 1. A six-year-old boy named Crisp was brought to the hospital yesterday with an abscess in his throat. Immediately after his admission the abscess broke and the boy died in a few minutes. Auckland, Juno 1. A Fijiau employed on the Rauahi bad a remarkable escape from death last night. Ho was knocked down by a tramcar in Queen street and dragged several yards, getting pinned under the car. He was quickly extricated and conveyed to the hospital, where lie was found to have sustained sundry bruises and cuts and the flesh of his right log was torn, hut no bones were broken. Charles Stewart, traveller for Ross and Gleudiniug,' had ins loft arm broken; Gus. Webber, traveller for Ellison and Duncan, was cut on the face, necessitating four stitches; and Miss Cooper, of Morore, was cut about the head. Tho plucky conduct of A. Harvey, driver, averted a more serious accident.
