Invercargill’s Protest.

Press Association. Invercargill, April 29. A big meeting, called by the Mayor at the request of the Employers’ Association, was held to-night. It was resolved to protest against the proposed enforement of the Factories Act as regards Saturday halfholiday. Mr Hanan, M.H.R., who was present, was requested to take steps to secure an alteration of the Act, and it was decided to send a copy of the resolution to the Minister of Labour. Mr Hanan expressed himself in favour of a universal Saturday .half-holiday, but under the circumstances he advocated a district referendum on the subject.
