LEATHER ADULTERATION.
Press Association—Copyright. London, April 25. Loading leather importers informed Sir W. Lyne that the strict enforcement of the Commerce Act with respect to the undue loading of leather with glucose sugar had produced an excellent effect on the Australian trade. The, Customs recently discovered that American samples wore loaded to the extent of 25 per cent.
(Leather is sold by weight, so that the adulterators gained a great advantage).
