Mr Botha, in an interview, described the story in the Standard respecting the Transvaal defonce force as ridiculous, and added, "Our aim is to establish an army for the defence of the whole of South Africa, wheroin Dutchl and British will serve side by side. It is no longer a question of Dutch or English;_ we are one people, with one ambition and one aim, and ought to be called South Africans.
