THE COLONY'S PRODUCE TRADE.

The figures showing the quantity of ih9 agricultural produce exported from the colony during the financial year just closed, with the figures for the corresponding period of the previous year, are given in a leaflet published by the statistical branch of the Department of Agriculture.

Butter shows an increase from 300,106 cwt, valued at £1,443,284 to 310,980 cwt, valued at £1,529,530. The increase in cheese was still greater, from 107,825 cwt, valued at £285,084 to 166,125 cwt, valued at £440,713. There is also a very large increase in frozen betf, 155,086 cwt, valued at £181,519, to 320,785 cwt, valued at £380,290. La3t year the frozen mutton exported amounted to 1,032,474 cwt, valued at £1,341,053, as compared with 776,116 cwt, valued at £1,094,107 for 1905-6. Lamb also shows a fair increase, from 616,823 cwt, valued at £1,158,591, to 818,566 cwt, valuta £1,426,273. The number of carcases increased from 1,932,214 to 2 666, 559. The export of hemp increased from 27,422 tons, valued at £690,577, to 28,754 tons, valued at £844,403. Cereals show a decided, falling off. Wheat decreased from 991,026 bushels, valued at £148,248;, to 38,993 bushels, valued, at £6551; oats from 942,195 bushels, valued at £88,942, to 649,248 bushels, valued at £68.793 ; potatoes from 256 tons, valued at £2268, to 134 tons, valued at £1477.
