(Per Press Association.) Wanganui, April 1(5

The editor of the Sydney Referee cables the editor of the Herald that Charlie Towns has accepted Webb’s challenge to row for the championship of the world, and has deposited £IOO.

Press Association—Copyright. Received April 17, 12.18 a.m. Sydney, April 10.

Towns states that he will race Webb 11s the latter part of July, probably on the Hunter river.

Charlie Towns, who now holds tliS title of champion sculler, is 28 years of ago, weighs about list, in fonfl, being therefore about the same ago aud weight as W. Webb, of Wanganui, who has put on considerable weight since his race with Stanbury. Charlie Towns has shown good form in private, and has won some regatta races, but tho match race with Ben Thoroughgood, which ho won, is tho only one he lias yet rowed. A race for the championship between Webb and Charlie Towns, which is now assured, should create great interest, not only in Australia but in this colony.
