DEATH OF MR W. GRAY.

Press Association. Wellington, March 23. The death occurred at midnight of Mr W. Gray, Secretary of the Post Office. Ho had been connected with the Department for over 40 years. Born in Aberdeen in 1844 he came to colony when a boy, completing his studies at New Plymouth. His first experiences were in a newspaper office, but in 1864 he joined the Postal Department at Dunedin, and 10 years later became Secretary to' the Postal Department, and for over a quarter of a century held this important position. His health had been failing for some time. Apart from his offleal position he was well known throughout the colony as an enthusiastic bowler, and was universally liked and respected.
