SHOOTING.

Rangitikei Rifle Association. The township cf Bulls presented quite an animated appearance onVedncsdav, the attraction being the first annual gathering of the above Association. The competitions took place on the local Defence Club's . range, which had been extended to meet the requirements of the day. The thanks of the Association are specially due to Captain G. D. Nicholson, under whose direction and assistance the new appointments have been carried out. Unfortunately the recent heavy rains had upset calculations to some extent by flooding the trench. However, the trouble was overcome in time to go <:i with the shooting after au hour'J delay in the morning. The officers of the various clubs competing lent invajur able assistance in carrying out the details and a very pleasant day's out- "»? resulted. The shooting was not oriiiiaut; this is accounted for by t]w strong right wind that prevailed t'iroughout the day. The prizes were well distributed, proving that the handieappers had fairly gauged the abilities of the contestants. The Marton team was the most successful in the individual scores and they only lost the teams match by the narrow margin of four points from the • Manchester Rifle veterans.
