Wool Sales. Press Association— Copyright. London, March 20. Spirited sale for all descriptions of wool, and highest nrices of the series. The N.Z.L. and M.A. Co. reporthaving received the following cable from their Loudon office : Wool sales progress firmly. As compared with last’ sales closing rates prices arc about 5 per cent higher for. coarse greasy crossbred and crossbred slipo, and about tho same for m>dium greasy crossbred. ■- Frozen Pfleat (Per Press Association.) Canterbury mutton 4>,<d, Rapier, Wellington and North Island Lamb —First sd, second 4%d. Beef —Hinds 3%d, fores 2%d.

The Stock Market. Par Press Aieooiation. CmnsicnnscH, March 20. At the Addington live stock market to-day there were fairly large entries of almost all classes of stock and a good attendance. There was an improved demand for store sheep in consequence of last week’s rain and prices were tinner. _ The resumption of killing operations at tho freezing works reopened the market for fat lambs and prime lots sold well. Tiiere was good demand for fat cattle. Tho few fat wethers offered sold firmly at late rates and there was a marked rise in fat owes. Bacon pigs sold at late rates. Porkers were firmer and small stores dull of sale. There was a rather better enquiry for store cattle and a good demand for dairy cattle. There was a large yarding of store sheep, the Imlk being useful breeding _ ewes. There were a number of lines of lambs and a few lots of wethers, mostlv from Chatham Island. Though there' was little improvement in price there was a firmer tone in tho market, bidding being more free for both ewes and lambs. The entry of fat lambs was also a largo one and for quality it was one of the best of the season, Caere being a smaller proportion of unfinished lots than usual. The export buyers are operating freely for prime lambs and prices recovered from the drop caused by the strike at tho freezing works, though they are about per ih below the rates ruling when the exporters were last operating. Unfinished lots wore neglected and showed little improvement in prices. Tho range of prices is—Tegs 17s to ISs lid, prime freezers 13s 6d to 10s 6d, lighter 12s Id to 13s.

The yarding of fat _ sheep was a moderate one and consisted principally of ewes. The few lines of wethers sold well and ewes showed an advance of fully 2s to. 3s per head from tho previous week, though tho exporters did little business. Tho range of prices was—Prime wethers ISs to 22s 3d, extra to 255, lighter 16s to 18s 3d, prime ewes 16a fid to 20s, extra to 235, medium ISs to 10s, aged 10s to 12s !>d.

The supply of beef comprised 213 head, of which a fair proportion consisted of very prime steers. There was a good demand throughout the sale at rather firmer rates, cow hcof soiling bettor than usual. Steers brought £3 12s 6d to £ll, heifers £5 to £7 10s, and cows £4 10s to £B, equal to 22s Od to 2-ls for prime and 20s to 32s for medium’per 1001 b. Veal calves sold at 4r> to 40s, according to size and quality. There wore a few mixed lines of store cattle, and though there was a little more enquiry few lots of young stock wore sold. Dairy cows mot with a good enquiry and sold up to £B. There was a medium entry of pigs Bacouors sold at late rates. Porkers were iu better demand and small stores were difficult to dispose of. Bacouers made 39s to 54s and up to 53s for heavy weights, equal to 4d td 4jJd per lb. porkers 30s to S7s (id, equal to 4,?.<d to od per lb, large stores 20s to 345, medium 13s to 18s and woanor.; -is to 10s.

Messrs Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report as follows : —Wo held our usual fortnightly sale at Martou on Tuesday when wo had a large yarding of sheep, no cattle coming forward. Bidding was slow at auction for wethers and aged owes hut there •was keen competition for young ewes and forward lambs, several lines were passed in, hut with the exception of two lines of light woolled owes wo disposed of all passed in lots privately immediately after sale.
