Per Press Association. Christchurch, March SO. The competitions under the auspices of the United Fire Brigades Association were resumed to-day in splendid weather and with a capital attendance. Broughs), 36 2-ssec, including Isec penalty, 1; Timaru (Captain Campbell), 36 3-ssec, 2; Hastings (Fireman W. Graham), 38 3-ssec, 3; Greymouth (Fireman J. Kennedy). 39sec, 2sec, 4. Gore and shburton having tied for third and fourth places, ran off, Gore winning in 40 2-sseo (a.record for tlie colony), Ashburton repeating its performance of 47‘2-sseo. There were a largo number of competitors in this. event, one tie for second and third places, and five for fourth, the runs off resulting as above. The competitions will be continued to-morrow. Cheistchtjecii, March. 21. The Fire Brigades competitions continued to-day, the chief event being the hose, hydrant and union for three men. Forty seconds was taken as a standard, and the teams approaching that time are as follows; Hastings 37 l-sth, Waihi 37 2-sths, Stratford 38 4-sths, Marton, Palmerston North 39 C-oths, Hokikitika 40, Dunedin South 40 l-oth, West-port 40 4-stlis.
