At Kiwitea Hack Racing Club’s meeting yesterday a discussion took place as to the running of Makino, on account of his good win in the Welter, as compared with his performance earlier in the day, but after careful consideration the stewards found no cause of complaint. (Mr Stanford) expressed the loss that the Martou bar and public had sustained in the death of Mr S. Gibbous, who was one of the local Justices of tho Peace. Counsel added that the late Mr Gibbous, in such capacity, had rendered good service, and that he had also been a member for some years cf Martou Borough Council, and its representative on the Wanganui Charitable Aid Board, and had served the town and district faithfully, and great regret would bo felt at Mr Gibbons’ demise. His Worship raid that it was very regrettable that a useful citizen and public man had been removed from their midst, and his loss would no doubt bo keenly felt.
