The Flower Show and Gift Sale promoted hy the local Presbyterian congregation came off on Wednesday and was a great success. Although the number, of entries was not so great as on previous occasions the quality of the exhibits was excellent. The long spell of dry weather was not good for the gardens, yet the flowers and garden produce shown was highly creditable. Mr Laird, jvm., of Wanganui, acted as judge of the flowers and vegetables and gave every satisfaction. The home industries were in a like manner judged by Mrs Deane and Miss McWilliam. The articles for sale found ready buyers, whilst good business was done in the afternoon tea-room and at the lolly and cordial stall.
