ONEWHERO.

SCHOOL PICNIC. TheOnewhero School Picnic was held at school ground on Friday December 18th. A most enjoyable day was spent with the children, many of the parents being present. The usual races and sports for the children were carried out under the supervision of the headmaster and school committee. The most im-. poitant part of the day was the giving oak Of prizes to scholars who had gained highest marks in each standard for the year. Bryon Baker, a boy of the 6th Standard, scored the highest marks for the whole school. The progress of Onewhero School is one which the residents of Onewhero have much'to be proud of, and reflects great credit on the headmaster, Mr Fox, and what is most remarkable is the' children of an average are 18 months, younger in each standard than most of other schools. The following shows the progress of the school: During past three years 30 pupils presented for Bt4 6 examination 26 gained proficiency, tour gained com- • patency, there" bejng no failures. * 4 Three went to Technical College; one to Diocesan Girls' College ; one to 8t Cuthberts; one to Girl's Grammar School; one to Pukekohe t High Bchool.
