PAPAKURA.
GOLF CLJB. The finals for the Club Championship were play: 1 off on Wei ne id ay afternoon before a large gathering of interested spectabrs. .In the ladies' match Miss Jephson beat Mrs F'bott four up and tbri3 to play, while the men's match resisted in a win for Mr Ellioii; who beat Mr E. W. Webb. The play was not of a vory high order—not nearly so exciting a match as the semi final on the previous Monday when Mr Crawford and Mr E liott were " all equara " at the 18th hole and the latter scored at the 19th. The keenness of the competitors may be judged by the strokes, thy irjur doing the round >'n 104. The end of the season wiH be marked by a social ou Wc iuesday evening, when the various trophies will be pie«9nt 1.
We understand that an effort is to b3 made to form a t ablic ScbooV Amateur Athletic Association in Papakura. A mcaliug of teachers and repr< entatives from school committees will be called at an early date, and already several trophies for competition have been offered if a Gala Day cau be arranged before Christmas.
