Service of Intercession.

[To the Editor 1 Sir,—ln your report of the last Borough Council meeting you reported me as announcing tne United Service of 7th October. I avoided the use of the word " United," for, to the minds of some, the united service is a gathering on the denominational basis, envolvicg, perhaps, the idea of compromise. This is a gathering of citizens as such on a National basis, and although local clergy will assist it will be in the same capacity. Ther* ia no union of churches, as such implied, by the gathering, nor the abandonment of anything which any particular denomination stands for.— I am, etc., H. G. B. MASON, Mayor. Pukekohe, 28th Sept., 1917.
