Mr Bathe is also authorised to receive advts. and printing orders on our behalf. | Delegates from the Otahuhu Fife Brigade journeyed to Newmarket on Wednesday last to hear an address by Fire Inspector Hugo Representatives of all the Volunteer Fire Brigades within a radius of twelve miles of the city were also present. Inspector Hugo delivered a very instructive discourse on the latest methods of fire-fighting and on the treatment of injuries received at fires. He also demonstrated and proved that many houses were set on fire through the hot water services in the buildings, the cisterns being placed in enclosed wooden cupboards and some architects compelling the builders to have the cisterns wrapped in felt packing; consequently the heat and vibration caused ignition.
A workman named Ginn whilst engaged pushing a truck at the Westfield works yesterday morning fell and injured his back. Medical aid was summoned and the sufferer conveyed to his home by motor car.
