A Football Report.
! TO THE EDITOR. |
Sir,—ln the report of the Manukau Rugby Union's smoke concert, published in the issue of November 4th, I notice that the chairman is reported as having stated that the Wairoa seniors won the championship by a margin of one point over Papakura. This statement is not correct, as it wai the Bombay club's senior team which Wairoa scored over by one point. Knowing the chairman so well, I cannot understand why he made such a statement, but no doubt the fact that none of the members of the Bombay club were present at the concert has something to do with it. Had the Bombay club been cons'ilted as to what night was convenient for its members to attend I am certain a night in the middle of the week would not have been chosen. However, if this is the treatment the Bombay club are to receive from the Manukau Union I can assure them that when next season comes round Bombay will be found casiing in their lot with another Union. -I am. etc. A. COKNTHWAITE.
