WAIUKU NEWS.

SUCCESSFUL OPERATIUN

The many friends of the Rev. and Mrs C. A. Vaughan will no doubt be pleased to learn that their little daughter Mollie has undergone successful surgical treatment, and is now able to walk again. This marvellous operation for dislocation of the hip joint is a source of gratitude, as many people for the same complaint have been obliged to take their Eiifl'ering ones to the Old Country. THE NEW BOAT. The new oil vessel Waiuku arrived from Or.ebunga on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., having left at 10 o'clock and being delayed about 17 minutes at Awhitu wharf, thus making a creditable trip. It is confidently expected that she will be able to do it in two and a-half hours easily. Captain Bright is in command. The vessel is handsomely fitted and of very graceful proportions. The engines, of the Dieusel type, were made at Basingstoke, England, and are very powerful. There are two decks and handsome cabins for ladies and gents. Altogether she is very finely appointed, and the Northern b.S, Co. arc to be congratulated on their enterprise in providing such an up to date ship for our passenger ttade. She drew one foot eight inches at the bow, and came alongside easily at about half-tide. ANNIVERSARY CONCERT.
