Cr Comrie moved that a clarge of Is be made to traction engines filling up their tanks, or that annual hcers.s be issued for 10a. Cr Johns seconded the resolution, which was carried. WATER ANALYSIS.

J. Pond, late Government analyst, forwarded analysis of water. Cr Poll', ck moved, That the Depattment be asked to move the telegraph posts on Victona-3treet. Seconded by Cr Comrie and carried.

VICTORIA-SIREET. Cr Kfnnf lly drew attention to the bad state of the eastern end of Victoria-street. —lt was decided that the foreman attend to the filling as soon as poesibl?. HICKEY'S CORNER. The foreman suggested extending the cul-eit at Hickey'a corr.tr. —lt was decided to have the matter in the foreman's hands. ' A ROAD WANTED.

Mr A. P. Daysh wrote complaining that though he had purchased a property from Mr Berriman he was still suffering from ttie inconvenience of no road. Mr Berriman had undertaken to construct and de licate a toad, and the Council held an agreement to tr.is effect. He asked the Cou.cil to take immediate action

Douglas Brtis. wrote criticising the wheel traffic by-laws, which they called "ridiculous " Cr Pulluck consid red there was ro m for criticism. He thought they were insisting cn too wice tyres. Hi moved, lhat Crs Johns, Hamilton and the mover be a committee to go into the matter. Cr Kennelly second d the resolution, which was supported by Cr Comrie and carii- d. Cr Johns said the Council had to be very careful in winter. They might set over the trouble of soft roads by specifying smaller loads in the winter.

MOTOK BIKE REGISTRAIION. The clerk stated there was nothing in the by-laws for the registration of motor cycles or motor cars. A man came in to regieter a motor cycle that day. The Mayor: Did you take the fee? The clerk: No; worse luck x couldn't. The clerk was instructed to obtain particulars aa to fees frrm Auckland BUILDING PERMIiS. Building permits were granted to T. K. Bradbury for house; to E. Smith 'or a hou»e fo' R. Blake; B. Foy for house. IiOKRESPONDENCE. District Enigneer New Zealand Railways wrote asking to have the road approach to new railway goadsshed vested in the Council. —Decided to refer the letter back to tha Engineer, it being the Council's opinio i that the road thouid be metalkd the full width, acid it be left to tne Major and Cr Comrie to attei d to Kailway Department wrote stating that the request of tha Council to have the Paeiata creak cleaned out was being enquired into.
