Mr \V. J. Colo, saddlor, is having additions made to hj» premises. Mr R. B. Lutmjin, who has for the past thirteen mohths been farming here, is contemplating a revisit to England and expects to be absent from the Dominion some little time. The Rod and Gun Club hold a successful afternoon's sport on Saturday when a trophy, presented by Messrs Green and Colebreok, Ltd., was competed for. The winner established a "possible." The scores read : Woolley (18yds), 10 birds; Cory (18), 8; Cronin (17), 7 ; Deebla, junr., (20), G; B McGahan (15), 5 ; E. McGahan (13), 5. On Wednesday evening a meeting was hold for the purpose of forming a branch of the St Johns' Ambulance Associa'ion and after some discussion on the subject it was decided to do so. Mr C. Jt'ern was elected secretary of the Branch and Mr J. S. Bell secretary and treasurer of the class. A subscription of 7/6 was fixed. It was decided to commence the lectures as early as possible and Dr. Cheesman has consented to take the class. Mr Geo. Walker is erecting a new mill on tho site lately occupied by Frost's and expects to have it going within a fortnight. This will mean employment for upwards of 20 men.

Tennis Club's Ball. A delightful ball was given by the Tennis Club on Tuesday ovening and though inclement weather prevailed a large number was present. The committee had many, obstacles to surmount and doserve, credit for the excellence of the ball. The decorations in the hall were pretty and the stage particularly so, it being tastefuHy arranged to assumo the purpose of a drawing room. Tlje supper room was daintily draped wit|i the colours of the club and the table decorations bore evidence of the good taste of the ladies'committee. ; During the evening a flashlight photograph of the dancers was taken. The chapcronos for the evening wore Mesdames (Dr.) Cheesman, C. B. Bell, and Moor. Committee: Mesdamos 11. li Froe and R. B. Lutmun, Misses Foley, Taylor and Hamilton, Messrs Young (2), Madill, Free, Tapper, Pirrit, Lutman, Stevenson and Hamilton. Austin (Wellington), smart cinnamon brown crepe meteore; Miss Taylor, pretty cream frock; Miss Foley, maize charmouse, pannier of floral ninon; Miss li Crawford, dainty white silk, maltose tilmming; Miss Marbis(Onehuiiga), white frock ; Miss A. McGuire, cream voile; the Misses Deeble, white muslin; Miss McGahan, cream vo'lo ; Miss Mayall, white muslin, Miss Geraghty, cream voile; Miss Enright, cream silk muslin ; and Miss Clark, pink Shantung silk.
